Its only drawback is the increased heat output. 105 The Flamer is a very effective short-range weapon in that it not only damages enemy 'Mechs, it also increases enemy heat, making it difficult for the targeted unit to return fire. 106 Much like the Clan ER Large Laser, the Clan ER Medium Laser shows improvement over the Inner Sphere version in damage and range, but generates greater heat. 107 Hard to learn, but has high damage-to-tonnage ratio. Damage is based on charge time. Pulling the trigger starts the charge. It will fire upon reaching full charge or when the trigger is pulled again. 108 Even improvements in range and damage can't keep the Clan Small Laser from being a support weapon used only when most other options have failed, or when the extra heat capacity is available. 109 One of the best overall weapons available to a MechWarrior, the Large Laser is a good mix of range, power, and recycle time, making it useful in most situations. Its one drawback is heat buildup. 110 Long considered an Inner Sphere workhorse, the Medium Laser is an excellent support weapon for close-range combat. However, its short range and low damage keep it from being a primary weapon. 111 The Small Laser is considered more of a utility weapon. Alone it is almost useless, but in banks or combined with other weapons, it can add that last bit of damage in a short-range barrage. 112 Ton for ton, no weapon does more damage than the Clan ER PPC. Because of its incredibly high heat and long recycle time, its best performance is only when in the most skilled hands. 113 The PPC ranks among the most powerful of weapons in any MechWarrior's arsenal. Fast moving, long ranged, and hard hitting, its only downside is the tremendous heat buildup. 114 The Clan Large Pulse Laser does little damage per shot, but its low recycle time allows for multiple shots within a short period. The Clan version has a longer range and does more damage. 115 The Clan Medium Pulse Laser does little damage, but a low recycle time allows for multiple shots within a short period. The Clan version has a longer range and does more damage. 116 The Clan Small Pulse Laser is the closest thing to a laser machine gun. Each shot does little damage at short range, but its incredibly fast recycle time lets it deliver respectable damage for its size. 117 The Large Pulse Laser does little damage per shot, but its low recycle time allows for multiple shots within a short period. 118 The Medium Pulse Laser does little damage, but low recycle time allows for multiple shots in a short period. Lower weight offsets it doing less damage and having shorter range than the Large Pulse. 119 The Small Pulse Laser is the closest thing to a laser machine gun. Each shot does little damage, but its incredibly fast recycle time lets it deliver decent damage for its size, even if at short range. 120 LRMs are useful in softening up an opponent at range before engaging in a closer fight, but you could experience an ammunition shortage. The higher the rating, the more missiles per salvo. 121 Clan LRMs are useful at range, but may have ammunition shortage problems. The higher the rating, the more missiles per salvo. Clan LRMs weigh less than LRMs. 122 A compromise between LRMs and SRMs, the MRM is an all-around weapon with a good damage-to-heat ratio, but prone to ammunition shortages. The higher the rating, the more missiles per salvo. 123 SRMs do more damage per missile than their long-range or medium-range counterparts. However, their lack of a guidance system makes it hard to aim them. 124 Lock-on capability makes the CSTRK significantly better than a regular SRM. With a quick lock-on time to offset its short range, it packs a good, close-in punch. 125 Unlike other missile systems, the Thunderbolt fires one large missile. Though harder to aim, it does a tremendous amount of damage to a single spot on a target. 126 The Autocannon is a dependable, low heat, direct-fire weapon. Of the two sizes, the AC/10 weighs more and does more damage, but the AC/5 has a longer range. 127 The LBX Autocannon is an infighter's favorite, capable of enormous damage at close range, but less as distance increases. The higher the caliber, the more damage and the shorter the range. 128 Prone to ammunition and aiming trouble, the Ultra AC fires a pair of shots over .25 seconds, causing significant damage for its type. Higher caliber means higher damage, but shorter range. 129 Prone to ammunition and aiming trouble, the Clan Ultra AC fires a pair of shots over .25 seconds, causing significant damage for its type. Clan versions are lighter and do more damage than Ultra ACs. 130 The Clan Gauss Rifle fires massive projectiles at incredible speeds and does enormous damage, yet generates low heat. Clan versions of the Gauss weigh less, which help offset the heavy ammunition. 131 The Gauss Rifle fires massive projectiles at incredible speeds and does enormous damage, yet generates low heat. Low ammunition count per ton can cause shortages. Clan versions weigh less. 132 A smaller version of the Gauss Rifle, the Light Gauss is still feared on the battlefield. While it does less damage than its big brother, it can carry more ammunition per ton. 133 The Long Tom is the most devastating weapon available to a MechWarrior. Unfortunately, its ballistic trajectory, high heat generation, and extreme weight make it difficult to use. 134 The MG Array consists of multiple machine guns mounted together (three for Inner Sphere, four for Clan). Too weak to pose a threat as a single machine gun, it is designed for use in groups. 135 A NARC Beacon attached to an enemy unit sends out a signal for a short period that attracts missiles. Friendly missiles without lock head for the nearest beacon. Clan versions have a longer range. 136 A Clan NARC Beacon attached to an enemy unit sends out a signal for a short period that attracts missiles. Friendly missiles without lock head for the nearest beacon. Clan versions have a longer range. 137 Capable of carrying missiles, ballistic, and beam weapons in good number, the Argus has often been called the smallest assault 'Mech in existence. It works quite well in a frontal assault role. 138 Slow, ponderous, and 100 tons, the Atlas isn't hard to spot. It has more armor than any other 'Mech and it carries an AMS, lending it battle longevity. Its vast firepower makes it the center of battle. 139 With three PPCs, the Awesome is capable of taking out most 'Mechs with a few well-placed shots. Thick armor helps it survive battle, but heat problems and low top speed limit its usefulness. 140 With its low profile, the Bushwacker is hard to notice on the battlefield. This serves it well, because the Bushwacker's favorite tactic is to snipe from range with its LRMs and Autocannon. 141 One of the best missile 'Mechs in the Inner Sphere arsenal, the Catapult excels in a fire support role. Its ability to mount Jump Jets helps it escape dangerous situations. 142 A new design based on general purpose, the Chimera is capable in any role without being a standout in one specific area. 143 Although the Cougar is not able to go as fast as the Raven or Osiris, it is one of the most powerful scout 'Mechs in existence and outguns both its Inner Sphere counterparts. 144 Even with low maneuverability, slow speed, and 100 tons, no other 'Mech, Clan or Inner Sphere, can outshoot the Daishi. Even an Atlas can't carry equal firepower. In battle, it is the focus of combat. 145 At 45 tons, the Hellspawn is a bit heavy for a scout design, but does fine in a scout command role. Mostly a missile 'Mech, it has enough beam and ballistic hardpoints to give it a well-rounded stature. 146 With a large number of ballistic and beam hardpoints, the Loki is an excellent toe-to-toe combatant. It is especially effective when teamed with a fire support 'Mech, such as the Vulture. 147 A blend of firepower, armor, speed, and maneuverability, no 'Mech portrays the Clan ideal of military superiority as the Mad Cat. Its only weakness is that you can't install Jump Jets. 148 The Mad Cat Mark II is like the Mad Cat, but larger and more powerful. Added Jump Jets eliminate one of its weaknesses but has decreased its speed and maneuverability. 149 At 90 tons, the Mauler lives up to its name. With a good blend of firepower and armor thicker than any except that of an Atlas, the Mauler is more than powerful enough to tip the scale of battle. 150 Based on beam weapons and not ammunition-based systems, the Nova Cat excels at extended performance. Unfortunately, all those beam weapons means it has a serious problem with overheating. 151 The unmatched speed and maneuverability of the Osiris make it one of the premier scout 'Mechs. 152 Not quite as fast as the Osiris, the Raven carries an electronics package that makes it a very effective scout. 153 With a wide array of weapons, good armor, jump jets, and decent speed, the Shadow Cat is one of the most flexible 'mechs in its class. 154 The Thanatos carries a pair of LRM racks, but this heavy 'Mech thrives up close. Its AMS lets it get in close where its firepower is most effective, and it can devastate an enemy 'Mech in seconds. 155 An offset cockpit and rounded missile tube make the Thor look unique. With a large number of hardpoints for its weight, it can be outfitted in a variety of ways to keep the enemy guessing. 156 Maneuverable with good firepower and decent armor, the Uziel is the epitome of the medium class 'Mech, capable of filling any job in a pinch. 157 The Vulture is capable of carrying more missiles than any other 'Mech in existence, whether Inner Sphere or Clan. This makes it unparalleled in the fire support role. 158 Jump Jets enable a 'Mech to jump over intervening obstacles and add considerably to a 'Mech's maneuverability. However, they also add weight to a 'Mech and generate additional heat when used. 159 ECM is a defensive unit added to a 'Mech's sensor system. It decreases enemy sensor range and increases enemy missile lock-on time. 160 Generally attached to scout or fire support 'Mechs, the Beagle Active Probe increases sensor range and decreases missile lock time. 161 Improves a 'Mech's ability to see when visibility is low, but can't be used with the Zoom feature. Some light sources (spotlights, weapon fire) can overload Light Amplification and temporarily blind a 'Mech. 162 The Anti-Missile System is strictly a defensive weapon and fires automatically to shoot down incoming enemy missiles. It is invaluable to the MechWarrior who likes long-range combat. 163 The Clan Laser AMS does not require ammunition like the Inner Sphere AMS, but it does build up heat. Preference for either is up to the MechWarrior. 164 Ammunition 165 Lets you restore the 'Mech to its previously saved state by deleting any current changes you made. 166 Lets you close MechLab and returns you to the previous screen. 167 Indicates the degree of a 'Mech's firepower, based on its currently installed weapons.
